Special Education: A Service, Not a Place
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) says special education is supposed to be a service, not a place. In other words, educators are supposed to bring the services to students (like in a general ed classroom), instead of placing students in a self-contained classroom in order to receive services.
